Grey winter days got you feeling blue? Pack your pastels, metallics & ankle strap sandals–then get away, at least for a weekend.
Okay, maybe a week…or even two!
There’s no need to wait for April to start sporting the Spring 2014 trends you find most appealing.
Get away, instead, and head somewhere sunny where your peach colored chiffon and blush blouses may flutter in the breeze; where rose gold and quiet corals dare to brighten sandy, nude neutrals. Buckle up those ankle strap sandals, and take your soles for a ride, but skip the heavy metal–light metallics do it right.
Escaping on a whim is easy if you pack light and keep your selections easy to mix and match–meaning when it comes to trying getaway trends, three is a magic number. No need to go overboard.
Our Blushing Beauty set is the perfect example of how to do this when styling ankle strap sandals with pastels and metallics: 3 of the top trends for Spring 2014.
You want to start building your getaway outfits with a flat shoe and a high heel.
A chic flat is essential because you can dress up your casual looks with ease, then pair them with your party dress when your toes can’t handle compromising style nor comfort.
In this set, we opted for the the pointed toe, Encino ankle strap sandal by Chinese Laundry in Soft Blush. (Also available in Black & Blue Ink). We especially love Encino for its double ankle strap detail. This textured pointy toe flat features a thick ankle cuff, as well as a delicate ankle strap below that adds an extra touch of intrigue.
Of course, you’ll need a high heel for glamming up your dressier looks for a night on the town, or at the see-and-be-seen poolside brunch.
For this getaway guide to packing light, we went with the Lickety Split high wedge, ankle strap sandal by BC Footwear in Metallic Rose Gold Leather (Also available in Black Suede).
Pick a blouse or two in similar shades that can be interchanged with shorts or a skirt that pairs just as well with your swim suit, too. Including one or two statements pieces with pretty prints or fun florals makes it easy to keep your other items basic enough to mix and match.
Caveat: No need to be matchy matchy with colors (check out our previous post on styling pastels)–just keep colors in the same family, and go for the color block technique.
In our next post, we will show you how to style this same trend, with an earthier twist–buckling up another set of ankle strap sandals (a high heel and a flat) while keeping up with the other Spring 2014 trends we’re currently crazy about: pastels and metallics!
