Canvas Kicks: Part Two, Seavees

After kicking off our summertime fly canvas kicks countdown with Converse, we take things out west for a bit of that casual flavor. A California classic, SeaVees predates even Vans (which is crazy to think about). The brand caters to the laid back surfer lifestyle Southern Cali is known for by calling itself “Authentic California”.

During its initial run in the 60’s, the brand only lasted for 9 years. After taking a seriously long hiatus (the entire staff lost track of time surfing maybe?) it would be 40+ years later until the near forgotten SeaVees were reintroduced.

What stands out most about SeaVees, is how laid back the whole collection feels. Each pair caters perfectly to that whole, Life’s a long weekend, Monday brunch, sockless in the office, straight kickin’ it casual lifestyle. Silhouettes like the 2/64 Baja Slip On and the 8/63 Hermosa are each inspired by iconic Surfer-esque 60’s living references, like specific issues of “Surfer Magazine” or the dates of skateboard contests.

SeaVees are honestly a must have this summer. Especially if you’re wishing for that Cali living from the other side of the country, or all the way around the world.
