“As American as Apple Pie”. That’s one way to describe the outcome of a 1963 collaboration between Red Wing and Baseball Legend, Ted Williams. Dubbed the Supersetter 888, (or Kangatan, as it was commonly referred to) the extra high boot was not only impressive in terms of style, but featured a quality few boots have achieved since.
While the 888 has seen its hay-day come and go, Red wing has decided to take cues from the 60’s classic and translate them into the Red Wing 8180 – an updated and reworked silhouette inspired by the Supersetter.
Crafted in Red Wing, Minnesota, much like its predecessor, the 8180 has also been dubbed the Kangatan boot, and makes use of the iconic green Kangatan Portage leather that made the original 888 silhouette standout amongst its competition. Its eye catching green upper is in turned housed atop the brands staple Traction Tred outsole and Goodyear Welt construction.
