Back in February, we visited Sole Commerce to check out new collections of shoes and accessories from brands all over the world. When we saw Atelje 71, a booth full of seriously cool, fashion-forward shoes, we needed to know more immediately. After trying on a “few” pairs of samples and taking photos, we learned about Atelje 71.
Founders, Åsa Larsson and David Giordano told us the history of the brand and how it was created. Ateljé is the Swedish word for artist studio and 71 reflects the year the husband and wife founders were born. The brand is New York based and Swedish motivated. As for the shoes themselves, the designs are inspired by technology and art. You can see the sleekness and functionality in all of the shoes. In particular, the Aida, a sneaker sandal hybrid. The gunmetal chain detail gives the shoe an edge while the leather straps and contoured foot-bed offer comfort. Another cool shoe is the Ovidius Sneaker Bootie. Aside from the cool name, this sneaker bootie gives a street style look with pull-on ease and perforated suede front. See the rest of the collection here and let us know your favorite in the comments!
